Learner Driver Requirements in Victoria

To get your learner permit in Victoria, you must:

  • Be at least 16 years old
  • Pass the VicRoads Learner Permit Knowledge Test
  • Meet medical and eyesight standards

Once you’ve got your permit:

  • Display L-plates while driving
  • Always drive with a fully licensed supervisor
  • Complete 120 hours of supervised driving, including 20 hours at night, before applying for your probationary licence
