Occupational Therapy Driver Assessments

Drive Smart is able to offer Occupational Therapy Driver Assessments for both NDIS and VicRoads purposes.  Whether VicRoads have required you to undergo a for licensing purposes or you require a driving assessment to access specialized driver lessons via NDIS (if eligible), Drive Smart is partnered with an experienced Occupational Therapy Driving Assessor who will conduct a seamless and thorough assessment no matter your circumstances or goals.

What's involved? OT Driving assessments include an off-road evaluation and on road (driving) component. These two sessions are generally completed on separate days.  The off-road evaluation is typically completed at the client home and includes a physical screen, sensory screen, visual screen, cognition assessment and driving history overview. This generally takes between 1.5-2 hours.

The on-road assessment is completed in a dual controlled vehicle with a driving instructor. Depending on your circumstances this may either be in your local area or a pre-determined set route.  Your Occupational Therapist will complete relevant report writing for VicRoads and NDIS for funding applications.
